Celebrant Jeneane calls Ashley home and particularly enjoys working with couples north of the Ashley-Rakahuri River for small weddings.

Jeneane is a member of the Celebrants’ Association of New Zealand, and edits the Canterbury Branch newsletter. She particularly enjoys working with couples north of the Ashley-Rakahuri River in small weddings on their own farm or life-style block. Jeneane has worn gumboots to a wedding and will happily accept bookings from either side of the river.

Tell us about yourself? I’m sociable, empathetic, interested in everyone’s story, and able to bring confidentiality and professionalism into play to honour every couple’s special occasion.

Tell us about your style? I’m a low-key celebrant with many strings to my bow. I also manage the historic Ashley Church, which is available as a small ceremony venue, and my garden may suit very small groups – ideally no more than 10 people. Venues are extra to my hire fee.

Best part of any ceremony for you? The feeling of joy tinged with disbelief feels palpable when I present newly weds to their family and friends. I love this moment.

Favourite things? Gardening, writing, theatre and the arts, travel, good food and even better wine! Oh, and my beautiful daughters who do the occasional gig as wedding singers too.
