Celebrant Gillian works across New Zealand, but locally based in Christchurch and Kaikoura.

Gillian Smith is a fresh and bubbly celebrant who conducts weddings, funerals and baby naming ceremonies. Her warm, natural manner and highly professional approach ensures that your marriage ceremony or special service is undemanding and stress free.

Tell us about yourself? I was born in the North Island and shifted to Christchurch in 2003. I have four adult children and I am ‘Granny Smith’ to three grandchildren. My celebrant training was completed in Auckland and Christchurch, gaining a certificate in celebrant studies. My first wedding was on 18 February 2011 and I now have officiated at over 500 weddings. I am a validated member of Celebrants Aotearoa NZ, which engages me to take registry weddings from Monday to Friday.

Tell us about your style? I confidently relate to people of all ages. In terms of personality, I am approachable, yet vibrant, capable yet fun, diligent yet outgoing.

Best part of any ceremony for you? The best part of the ceremony is seeing this very special day finally come together after all the planning.

Favourite things? My favourite interest is ‘tramping’ – I thoroughly enjoy regular tramps for fitness, fun and the friendship and have seen and been to so many beautiful places around New Zealand.
