Celebrant Franzisca officiates weddings in Christchurch and Banks Peninsula but is happy to travel.
Known for her bubbly personality, Franzisca is committed to making your special day unforgettable – her passion for creating uplifting ceremonies guarantees that every story is told in its own words. Franzisca is bilingual (speaks German), a specialist in working with intercultural couples, and brings energy and fresh ideas to everything she does.
Tell us about yourself? I am one paper away from completing my Certificate in Celebrant Studies (with the Celebrant School). My celebrant work so far includes weddings in an old church, on a cliffside in windy Wellington, in a cosy backyard and soon in collaboration with a chaplain – a real mixed bag.
My day-job is with a government agency; the team I work with does some amazing, important mahi in the field of cultural integration and relationship management in Christchurch. Apart from that, I am a volunteer counsellor at YouthLine, where I support young people. I care deeply about mental wellbeing and intersectionality, and am always on the move.
Something fun about myself is that I just became mama to two adorable kitten siblings, and that I have about three different engagement rings (and yes, they are all from the same man!). I’m sentimental about all of them and really like the concept of bending tradition.
Tell us about your style? My writing is light-hearted and upbeat. I naturally gravitate towards an elevated and articulate style, but love a spontaneous laugh. The most important thing to me is making my couples feel special, and paid attention to.
Best part of any ceremony for you? The vows!
Favourite things? I love any experiences relating to human connection; beyond that I enjoy reading, writing poetry, going for sunny brunches and road trips.
