Celebrant Chris officiates weddings throughout Canterbury, including Akaroa. He is open to travel.

Chris is an experienced marriage celebrant who has been described as “professional, convivial and down-to-earth!” He will construct and deliver a personal and sincere ceremony which you will be delighted with. Chris believes that a wedding ceremony needs to reflect the personalities of the couple that are making a commitment together and it’s the vital part of a memorable and enjoyable wedding day. He delivers tailor-made ceremonies, totally relevant to the couple, in a comfortable and relaxed fashion. Chris is confident, has great people skills and experience in public speaking and works with you to deliver a memorable wedding ceremony.

Tell us about yourself? I believe I may be the only PE teacher in New Zealand that’s also a celebrant – although someone may prove that wrong. I’m a full time teacher with management responsibilities: sports director and dean (pastoral care of students). I teach in a rural secondary school in Canterbury. I have a background in public speaking starting from being head boy at high school and lots of experience as MC and celebrant at weddings. I’m married with two children. I am a member of the Celebrants Association of New Zealand.

Tell us about your style? Professional, relaxed and laid back with a sense of humour.

Best part of any ceremony for you? Pronouncement of husband and wife.

Favourite things? I’m a sports fanatic! Especially football and cricket! We have two wee Bichon-Shih Tzu doggies who I love. The GC is my favourite holiday destination with the family.
