Tell us about yourself? Kia Ora! Congratulations on your engagement, how exciting! I became a celebrant in October last year and have officiated several wedding ceremonies since then. I love being a celebrant and feel honoured to be involved in making people’s dream ceremonies come true. I have always been passionate about weddings and events. I have a diploma in wedding and event planning, as I one day hope to not only officiate ceremonies but to help plan weddings as well. I am a member of CANZ and have completed the funeral module through The Celebrant School, therefore am trained to also officiate funerals. For my day job I run my own business called Magnolia Supporting You where I have a private practice within which I provide counselling, social work support and professional supervision. I’m a registered social worker and have been practicing for the last six years. I’m very passionate about my community and am a born and bred North Cantabrian. I identify as Maori and have connections to Ngai Tahu. I can speak some Te Reo Maori and am hoping to be able to incorporate this into my celebrant practice. Something fun about me is that I am a very social and outgoing person. In my spare time I love to spend time with my family and friends and my animals; I have a cat, pet turtles and a rottweiler.
Tell us about your style? My style is very much centred around my client and what they are wanting for their ceremony. Naturally I am a relaxed, calm and easy going kind of person so my approach reflects this. I am a romantic at heart so I do enjoy hearing about peoples love stories.
Best part of any ceremony for you? The best part of the ceremony for me is listening to the couples vows. I think this is such an important part of any ceremony and really tells the story of who they are as people and what their marriage will look like.
Favourite things? For me it would be spending time with my family and friends, I enjoy spending time with people, especially my loved ones. For self care I enjoy listening to music, reading a good book or watching a really good movie or show. Education has always been a big part of my life so I am often learning about something new or working on my business.
